Show your Octopus deployments on each Jira Cloud issue
For teams that ship with Octopus Deploy and track work in Jira Cloud. Add one step to your Octopus process. Each Jira issue then shows which environments it has reached.
Full refund if it isn't delivered by 31 January 2027. You can also ask for a refund at any time before delivery.
Three steps, about ten minutes
You don't need any new servers or agents. Octopus sends a small message after each deployment.
Install and copy
Install Deploy Trail on your Jira Cloud site. Copy the webhook URL and secret it gives you.
Add one Octopus step
Add a step template, or a plain HTTP or curl step, to your deployment process. It sends the release, the environment and the issue keys.
Map your environments
Tell Deploy Trail once which Octopus environment is development, testing, staging or production.
"Is this in production yet?"
Testers, product owners and support all want to see the answer on the Jira issue. Usually they have to ask a developer instead.
When a deployment doesn't show up on an issue, it's hard to tell why. The issue key might be wrong, or the environment, or the connection. Most tools don't say which.
Deploy Trail shows every event it receives and why each key did or didn't match.
What it will and won't do
Version 1 does one job and keeps it small.
v1 will
- Show deployments on issues. The release number, environment and time appear in the Jira Deployments panel.
- Find issue keys. It reads them from commit messages and release notes.
- Map environments. You link each Octopus environment to a Jira environment type once.
- Explain misses. A diagnostics page lists every event and says why a key didn't match.
v1 will not
- Write release notes
- Set or update fix versions
- Work with Jenkins, Azure DevOps or other CD tools
- Work with Jira Data Center or Server
If you need one of these, tell us. It helps us decide what comes next. We can't promise any of them.
Pay $49 once and get your first year
After the first year, Deploy Trail is planned to cost $1 per user per month on the Atlassian Marketplace. Sites with up to 10 users won't pay.
A good fit if you deploy with Octopus Deploy, track work in Jira Cloud, and want each issue to show where it has shipped.
Not a fit if you use Jira Data Center, use a CD tool other than Octopus, or need release notes now.

Questions
Does Deploy Trail need access to my Octopus server?
No. Your Octopus step sends a message to the webhook URL. Deploy Trail doesn't connect to your Octopus server.
Do I have to change how we write commits?
Only if your commits and release notes don't include Jira issue keys yet. If a key doesn't match, the diagnostics page tells you why.
What happens after the first 12 months?
The plan is $1 per user per month on the Atlassian Marketplace. Sites with up to 10 users won't pay. Nothing renews automatically from this pre-order.
What if it's late?
If version 1 isn't delivered by 31 January 2027, you get your full $49 back automatically.
Will you add Jenkins, Azure DevOps or Jira Data Center?
Not in version 1. Tell us what you use at [email protected].
